Since the contract was awarded to Hassell Studio, the Town Centre Revitalisation and Foreshore Development projects have progressed well, with the Hassell team visiting Kununurra and completing Stage 1 - Place Identity.

This important first step sets the foundation for a design that reflects the unique character and values of our community.

Over the past month, key progress milestones have included:

    • Finalisation of contract negotiations and engagement of sub-consultants
    • Development of a draft project programme
    • Commencement of Kununurra Place Identity research
    • Creation of initial base maps for both the Town Centre and Lake Foreshore project areas
    • Submission of the first monthly report

Meanwhile, the Shire has been actively negotiating the Grant Agreement for the Kununurra Foreshore Development project, which is expected to be signed this month.

Work is now focused on finalising the Stakeholder Engagement Plan, which will guide meaningful consultation with the community and key stakeholders as the project moves into its next phase.
