Piling Phase to go ahead

19 May 2026

Major works are progressing at the Wyndham Boat Ramp, with the project now moving into the piling phase.

To allow these works to be completed safely, the Wyndham Boat Ramp will be closed from Tuesday 26 May to Friday 29 May. Access to the southern boat ramp is expected to recommence on the evening of Friday 29 May, in time for the long weekend, subject to works progressing as planned.

Piling works will commence on Tuesday 26 May and continue through to Friday 29 May. A 200-tonne crane will be on site during this period to install the piles.

Fun fact: For ease of transportation, the piles are delivered to site in 12-metre lengths. Two lengths are then spliced, or welded together, to create 24-metre piles before being driven into the ground using the 200-tonne crane. Due to the weight of the 24-metre pile lengths and tidal movement at the site, only two of the eight piles can be installed from land.

The next stage of piling works and associated boat ramp closure will extend from Tuesday 2 June to Friday 5 June.
