The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley has endorsed the Sports Recreation and Events Strategy 2025, providing a clear roadmap to guide the future planning, prioritisation and delivery of sport, recreation and event facilities and services across the Shire.

Developed following extensive community consultation and stakeholder engagement, the Strategy identifies the community's current and future recreation needs and outlines a series of actions to be delivered over the next five years.

The Strategy recognises the important role that sport, recreation and events play in creating healthy, connected and vibrant communities. It also highlights opportunities to improve ageing infrastructure, increase accessibility and inclusion, support local clubs, and strengthen the region's capacity to host community and tourism events.

Key priorities include improving boating and foreshore facilities, expanding indoor multi-purpose spaces, enhancing shade and trail networks, supporting community facilities in Wyndham, improving event infrastructure, and adopting a strategic approach to future capital investment.

Many of the recommended actions align with other major projects already underway, including the Kununurra Foreshore Masterplan, helping ensure future investment is coordinated and delivers the greatest benefit for the community.

The Strategy will now guide future planning and funding decisions, with individual projects to be considered through Council's annual budget process as opportunities arise.
