The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley is taking the next step in planning for the future of local sport and recreation facilities, with work now underway on three precinct master plans.

Following the adoption of the Sports, Recreation and Events Strategy in 2025, the Shire has commenced the development of master plans for three key sporting precincts:

  • Town Oval and Community Hub
  • Ingrid Harvey Oval
  • Clarrie Cassidy Oval

The master plans will provide a long-term vision for each precinct, helping guide future upgrades, improve existing facilities and identify opportunities for new infrastructure to meet the needs of our growing community.

To assist with the project, the Shire has engaged leading planning and design consultancy Urbis to prepare the master plans.

The first stage of the project focuses on engaging directly with the sporting clubs and community organisations that use these facilities. These groups have been invited to complete a survey, providing valuable feedback on how the precincts are currently used, what is working well, and where improvements or additional facilities may be needed.

The survey will remain open until 12 July 2026.

Following the survey, representatives from clubs and associations will be invited to attend a series of face-to-face workshops with Urbis to discuss the findings in more detail and help shape the future direction of each precinct.

The feedback gathered throughout this engagement process will play an important role in ensuring the master plans reflect the needs and aspirations of the community, creating vibrant, functional and sustainable sporting precincts for years to come.
