@Leisure Planners have been appointed by the Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley to prepare a recreation and events strategy. This strategy will provide a clear direction for future investment in and development of Shire-managed sporting facilities. It will also investigate opportunities to enable dual-purpose use of facilities for both recreation and events.
This project will:
Guide how Council allocates funds to projects and the master planning of specific recreation sites
Prioritise necessary upgrades to facilities based on community need
Identify the best multi-purpose event space
Determine sources of funding for recommended facility improvements

@leisure will be interviewing sporting and community groups in the coming weeks.
Council is also seeking input in the project from residents, user and community groups.
We would like to know:
What recreational activities you do, and the facilities you like?
What recreational activities would you like to, but cannot do?
Your suggestions for how to improve existing facilities:
Sport grounds (town oval, agricultural oval, Wyndham oval, racecourse, etc.)
Water-based recreation facilities (swim beach, water ski club, etc.)
Sport courts (tennis, netball, and basketball courts, etc.)
Leisure centres (Kununurra Leisure Centre, Wyndham swimming pool, Ted Birch youth and recreation centre, etc.)
Parks (celebrity tree park, swim beach, etc.)
What should be the priority for facility improvements if funds become available?
What else can be done to improve recreation opportunities for residents?
